Introducing birth for humankind's new ceo
The Birth for Humankind Board are delighted to announce that Cate Keane has been appointed as our next CEO.
Cate Keane (she/her) brings a wealth of experience working across the community, social services and not-for-profit sectors. She has held a variety of executive and leadership roles, including most recently as an Executive Manager for a community-based organisation in South West Victoria, where she led numerous youth services and programs.
Importantly, Cate’s leadership style closely aligns to BFH’s values-based approach. She brings a strong belief in the power of trust and collaboration. Cate is known and trusted for engaging and aligning teams to shared goals and fostering innovative, supportive environments.

Cate will officially commence as CEO from 24th July. In the meantime, a handover is already underway with the Board and outgoing CEO, Red Dearnley.
We will be arranging an opportunity to formally welcome Cate to the organisation, and farewell and thank Red for their service in the coming weeks.
“I am grateful to both Cate and Red for their commitment to ensuring continuity and consistency during this time. The Board and I are confident that through this transition, Birth for Humankind will be well positioned to sustain its services and continue to grow its reputation in the coming years.”
